Fred Gaines Series ‘25: Static Cling

Static Cling is a psychological thriller by student playwright Nina Broberg, presented as part of Lawrence University's seventh biennial Fred Gaines Student Playwrights Series at the Cloak Theatre. The play follows a young woman recovering from a broken arm who begins taking prescribed pain medication despite promising her mother she wouldn't, the same drugs that killed her sister years earlier. As she leans on a dorm neighbor for support, the line between grief, psychosis, and something more sinister starts to blur.
Jordan served as Costume Designer for Static Cling, sourcing all materials for the production herself. To ground the play's dorm setting, she designed an original college emblem for the world of the play and hand embroidered it onto a pair of sweatpants, building a specific, lived-in identity for the fictional school into the costume itself.
